The following Plaisted’s Garden Mixes are available for your use, or you may design your own soil: 70/30 Rain Garden Mix: Is blended to make a homogeneous mix of 70 to 80% washed clean construction sand and 20-30% organic leaf compost. It is designed to collect water from pervious and impervious surfaces as well as fiter out sediment and pollutants in this process. Other advantages: it stores water for the short term to be used by plants, and it permits clean water to infiltrate the soil and subsoil slowly, thus recharging the ground water. CU-Structural® Tree Soil: Is a unique engineered soil mix designed by Cornell University (U.S. Patent #5,849,069) to make tree growing in our urban concrete society handle the pressures of environmental stresses placed on them. This material provides tree roots with a better environment to encourage growth through an improved soil porosity matrix. We are a licensed producer by Amereq, Inc. the licensing agent, to produce this material in Minnesota. MN DOT Specialty Soils: This specification required by the Minnesota DOT is an engineered soil that we blend multiple components together with our Accublender to meet the requirements. These soil specifications are designed for use in general roadway planting areas to landscape beds. We blend multiple components together with our Accublender to meet the requirements. Custom mixes area available in any ratio of materials needed.Rain Garden Soils or Bio-Retention Mixes: These engineered soils are designed to collect parking lot and building water run-off and filter out sediments and pollutants through the infiltration process before the water runs off into streams and rivers. We blend multiple components together with our Accublender to meet the requirements. Custom mixes area available in any ratio of materials needed. Rooftop Garden Soils: Three types of rooftop materials are available. Extensive mixes are generally used at a 3” to 6” in depth, Intensive mixes are generally 6” to 12” or more in depth and Turf mixes are 6” to 12” The depths vary depending what types of plant materials are going to be used and what the roof weight-load is designed to handle. The trend to build “Green” has increased the popularity of green-roofs over recent years by increasing property values, absorbing noise pollution and creating a peaceful meditative environment with aesthetic appeal on building rooftops. These engineered soils are blended using our Accublender. List of Completed Rooftop Projects Related Links
